Update 2018-06-03

We have decided to forgo the trial for the new oral chemo (oral taxane) and stick with hormone treatment. So I’ll just continue with oral letrozole + Ibrance (plus Lupron injection) as the 2nd line of hormone treatment. After switching to this new treatment, I feel a bit more body aches and more fatigue, but everything is still very tolerable. I can still have my normal day-to-day activities and do some light exercises.

It is difficult to ascertain whether this is the right answer without a new biopsy, as cancer cells can mutate and change properties from being hormone receptor positive to negative (i.e., will no longer respond to hormone treatment). However, my new liver lesions are not big enough to be easily biopsied. Without perfect information, we’re rolling the dice and hope that we can maximize our options with hormone treatment before jumping to chemo since the side effects are much lighter with hormone treatment. We feel peaceful about this decision.

Will need to wait at least 8-12 weeks for the next imaging to see meaningful results. In the meantime, I’ll continue to get monthly blood tests to monitor.

Please continue to pray that the new treatment combo is effective with minimal side effect.

Thank you all very much!!!
