random: broken messaging, bane of modern walled gardens

Missed/mis-communications when using the “Messages” app on our phones.

Our default texting app is Google Messages, defaulting to RCS with SMS/MMS fallback, on Android devices, with T-Mobile as carrier.

“Messages” on iPhone defaults to iMessage, Apple’s walled garden. If you’re on an iPhone, and more so with a different carrier and/or in group message with us and/or on wifi only… tossing things back and forth over the walled garden means we (everyone) might not receive something sent, not in the order they were sent or random delays. Additionally, if you aren’t checking, your iPhone might be sending an iMessage to the email contact you have for us associated with a now defunct ipad, not texting our phones.

So default “messages” app, is basically unreliable cross device, cross carriers with the US, and leads to miscommunication.

So if messages seem out of whack, please do the old fashion call. Or use a common alternative with indicators like whatsapp, messenger, instagram or signal.
