PET Scan Update

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and faithful prayers. It gives me peace and comfort to know I have an army of people out there whom I can count on. I feel loved and supported as always.

Praise and Thanksgiving:
1. I was able to get a PET scan done last Thursday. It went very smoothly. The technician found my vein on the first try when setting up the IV line. (I have very challenging tiny veins that like to hide, so getting IV line is always a drag).

2. The liver metastasis is clear on the PET, but it is considered tiny per oncologist. There are several options available as next line of treatment.

3. I have a very good oncologist who genuinely cares about her patients. She squeezed me in at the last minute and stayed at the clinic for extra hours yesterday to chat with Siang and I about potential next steps. We definitely took up her whole lunch hour yesterday.

4. Super thankful for God’s hand in watching over us — The spine MRI I had in April was arranged 6 months ago. It just so happened that it was done two weeks after the abdomen CT. The radiologist who read the spine MRI spotted the suspicious spot in the liver (which was not noted in the abdomen CT taken just two weeks prior). If the radiologist had missed it in the spine MRI, I probably would not have known cancer has progressed until much later since everything else (CT, tumor markers, etc) indicated things were stable.

Prayer and Petition:
1. The oncologist mentioned a phase 3 clinical trial of a new oral chemo combination that I might be eligible for. We need wisdom to figure out if it is beneficial for me to participate if eligibility is confirmed. The trial is probably going to start sometime in June. Siang is now in his “super deep research” mode, devouring information about this new drug (an oral form of taxane). I’m very thankful to have him to always advocate for me.

2. The doctor has added one additional drug (letrozole) for me to take in the meantime while we wait to decide whether to participate in the clinical trial. I just started on it last night. Please pray that it is working its magic and that I will tolerate it well with minimal side effect.

Thank you all so so much!
